Main DEDALOS Ltd know-how

Being a start-up founded following the HPH.com European Community 7th Framework research project, DEDALOS Ltd developed the following background related to this project:

∎ Collisional-Radiative (C-R) and Global Models (GM) applied to various atomic and molecular gases and their mixtures. Development of GM based on recently evaluated atomic data allows for evaluation of different plasma thruster concepts, including Helicon, HET, RIT, FEEP types, allowing for a comparison of the characteristics of various thrusters.

∎ Evaluation of important radiative losses in the VUV region. Besides cooling the plasma, VUV radiation leads to erosion, which, being smaller in electrodeless devices as the helicon thrusters, becomes very important in devices using electrodes.

∎ Study of wall erosion in various types of thrusters.

Extended codes of quantum mechanics, of classical approximation and of Classical Trajectory Monte-Carlo (CTMC) types are currently used for data evaluations which become necessary for the space technology developments of current interest. Whenever experimental studies are needed, DEDALOS Ltd collaborates with well-known academic and industrial laboratories to obtain experimental results.
