We are interested to participate in projects and consortia addressing research and development in the space electric thrusters domain.
Research and Development (R&D) activities of DEDALOS Ltd span a wide spectrum of technology developments, from fundamental plasma physics, including atomic data calculations and measurements, to the development and the adaptation of plasma modeling codes and diagnostics tools for concrete industrial devices characterization and for their optimization. Throughout its R&D activities, DEDALOS Ltd relies on balance between theoretical calculations, numerical simulations and experimental results. Study of their correlation constitutes the only way to reach the validation of the obtained results and insure the expected performances of the developed applications. As a consequence, optimization of the industrial applications is obtained through their detailed characterization. The fields of DEDALOS Ltd applications include plasma thrusters, plasma reactors, material surface studies, lasers and fusion devices. DEDALOS Ltd has collaborated with laboratories, Institutes and Agencies in Europe, USA and China.
An example of theoretical plasma thruster characterization obtained by DEDALOS using DGM modeling is illustrated in Fig. 1. It shows a thruster Functioning Diagram for Xe feeding of 2 sccm. In this diagram, ionization percentage which is directly related with the obtained thrust is given as a function of the plasma pressure.
